World Dairy Expo Dairy Cattle Exhibitor Update

With just four days until the first Dairy Cattle Show entry deadline, now is the time to enter that special cow or heifer to avoid late fees. The Premium Book and online entry information can be found on the Dairy Cattle Show portion of Expo’s website. Entries are due Monday, September 6th at 11:59 p.m. (CST).

As a reminder, all entries are ONLINE ONLY. No paper entries will be accepted. If you have questions as you are entering your animals, please feel free to email Ann Marie or Laurie, or give them a call (608-224-6455).

COVID-19 Policy
Expo’s Executive Committee adopted COVID-19 policies for World Dairy Expo 2021 this week. The policies are available here.

ID Requirements for Animals at WDE
All animals must have an official USDA AIN (visual or RFID) or Canadian CCIA RFID number listed on the entry form at time of entry submission. These numbers will start with 840- or 124-, respectively. Pending identification will not be accepted. For more information regarding World Dairy Expo animal ID, visit the WDE Animal ID website, or for more information regarding the USDA ADT rule, please visit the USDA APHIS website.

Early Arrival Request Forms Due September 6
Exhibitors from Canada and approved U.S. states wishing to arrive Thursday, September 23, 2021, between the hours of 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. CST may do so with written permission from Ann Marie Magnochi, Dairy Cattle Show Manager. Exhibitors must have a completed Early Arrival Request Form on file with World Dairy Expo; request forms must be received by September 6. Exhibitors will receive written notice of acceptance or denial.

Pre-Show Nasco Farm & Ranch Booth Hours
The Nasco Farm & Ranch booth will NOT be open throughout the weekend of move-in for Dairy Cattle Exhibitors. They will be open beginning Monday, September 27 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will be open during the rest of the week during regular Trade Show hours, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Premier Breeder & Exhibitor Entries
Premier Breeder and Exhibitor entries can be made once you arrive on grounds. Premier Breeder and Exhibitor entries are online only. For your convenience, computers will be available in the Dairy Cattle Show Office on the top floor of the Coliseum. Entries can also be made on any computer or smart device, via WDE’s Dairy Cattle Show website, beginning Sunday, September 26.

Ayrshire breeder and exhibitor entries, for both the heifer and cow show, must be made by 5 p.m., Monday, September 27. For all other breeds, Premier Breeder and Exhibitor entries for the heifer show must be made by 10 a.m. the day of breed show; overall entries must be made by 5 p.m. the day prior to the breed cow show. Overall Premier entries that include heifers must be received by 10 a.m., day of the heifer show.

WDE Youth Showmanship Contest
A reminder that the WDE Youth Showmanship Contest moves to Monday, September 27 this year. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. with Junior and Intermediate Divisions leading off. The Senior Division will start immediately following the conclusion of a prior division, around 5 p.m. Entries for both the fitting and showmanship contests are ONLINE ONLY. Entry information can be found on the WDE Youth Fitting & Showmanship Contests webpage.

Camping Facilities at the Alliant Energy Center
Willow Island camping facilities will again be available during World Dairy Expo for $50 per night. Sites include electrical and water hook-ups and will be filled by order of reservation. Reservations may be submitted directly to the Alliant Energy Center via online order form or U.S. Mail. Download your camping form here. Livestock trailers are not allowed on Willow Island. Quann Park remains available for camping; no amenities are provided.

We invite you to list your open positions or positions you frequently hire for on the Career Connections page for free by completing the online application. Career Connections is open to exhibiting and non-exhibiting farms and Expo’s participating companies, so encourage your friends to take advantage of this new program, too!

All applications must be submitted by September 26 to be listed on the Career Connection’s webpage. At World Dairy Expo, a free networking event will be held on Friday, October 1 at 9:30 a.m. in Mendota 4, to connect job and internship seekers with hiring companies and farms. This program is free of charge for all Expo participating companies, farms and students, but registration is required. This is made possible by program sponsor, National Dairy Shrine.
