Ag for Life announces the launch of its Alberta Agriculture Teacher Toolkit. The Toolkit is a collaborative work between many different commodity groups and industry leaders.
The booklet provides reference to basic information about Alberta agriculture including commonly produced foods, farm machinery, and information on hot topics like farm animal care and welfare, environmental sustainability, and biotechnology.
The Toolkit allows educators to understand farming and ranching in the context of the wider agriculture and agri-food industry, and then integrate agriculture principals into their classroom. “Our goal was to make accessing agriculture information as easy as possible so teachers can integrate the information into their lesson plans, says Ag for Life CEO, Luree Williamson. “We worked with stakeholders to update and provide the most relevant information in one easy to use toolkit,” adds Williamson.
This project was made possible with the support of the following organizations: Agrium Inc., ATB Financial, ATCO Group, Penn West, Rocky Mountain Equipment, TransCanada Corporation, UFA Co-operative Limited, AdFarm, Glacier FarmMedia and the University of Alberta – Fred and Helen Bentley Education in Agriculture Awards Fund.
