Our Summer 2021 cover girl, Blondin Goldwyn Subliminal-ETS is the newest EX-97 Holstein in the United States! After a Grand Champion win at the Midwest National Spring Show, the 12-year-old perennial show contender earned the esteemed EX-97 classification in late May for her owners Peter & Lyn Vail and Budjon Farms of Lomira, WI.

Subliminal was bred by Ferme Blondin, St Placide, QC, and is now the second cow from the Supra family bred by them to be classified EX-97. Subliminal has 8 Very Good and Excellent dams with 80* among them! It is also believed that Ferme Blondin is the first farm to ever breed two Excellent-97 Holsteins.

Peter Vail and Budjon purchased Subliminal in 2012 as a junior 3-year-old, which began her tanbark career. She was named Reserve All-Canadian and HM All-American that year, and followed that up as Supreme Champion of the World Dairy Expo Junior Show for Trevor Tuman and Chandler Bening in 2015. She was named All-Canadian Mature Cow in 2016 and Nominated All-American in 2015 and 2016. After winning the Lifetime Production class at Madison in 2017, she earned All-American honors in that category. She took a year off in 2018, and returned in 2019 with another All-American Nomination. After placing 2nd at the North American Open Dairy Show in 2020, she capped off that year with Reserve All-American honors.

She’s been fresh since April 2020 and is nearing 300,000 lbs. of milk lifetime! She’s had 8 natural calves and has been IVF’d numerous times throughout her lifetime. Her highest classified daughter to date is Budjon-Vail Atw Stylish-ET (EX-94), Nominated All-American Milking Yearling in 2017 and HM Grand Champion at the 2019 Ontario Summer Show for Ferme Blondin. Budjon-Vail Sebiscuit-TW-ET (VG-89) sold for $38,000 in the Royal Time Online Sale. In the US, she has 7 Excellent and 26 Very Good daughters. At the National Holstein Convention sale, her King Doc choice sold for $11,000 to Ross Risner, WI.

Subliminal has certainly gained fans around the world throughout her career, as confirmed by the hundreds of comments and shares via social media after her EX-97 score was publicized.

Congratulations again to her owners, Peter & Lyn Vail and Budjon Farms, and breeder Ferme Blondin, on this outstanding accomplishment!
