Obituary for Innislake Holsteins Aage Iversen

Everyone at Cowsmopolitan extends our most sincere sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Aage Iversen of Innislake Holsteins, Olds, AB.

Aage_Iversen_1cowsmo2017Aage Iversen was born Nov 23, 1924 in Astrup, Denmark. The sixth of nine children, he grew up in some of the best and worst times of the 20th Century; the Roaring Twenties, the Depression of the Thirty’s and the Second World War. These times forged his outlook on life. After the war Aage served in the Royal Danish Guards for a year. As Europe lay in ruins he and his brother Paul joined the waves of immigrants that fanned out across the world in hope of a brighter future.

Choosing Canada as their destination they arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax on June 3, 1950. Aage and Paul worked their way across the country milking cows in Ontario until they eventually found their way to Calgary, Alberta.

Aage and Kristine were married on June 27, 1958 and moved to the current farm outside of Olds, Alberta in 1968. Shortly thereafter they started milking cows and shipping cream. Innislake Holsteins a renowned Holstein prefix was born and Aage’s pride for good cows and farming plus him and Kristine’s incredible work ethic provided them with a great future in the dairy industry. Attending Holstein events Aage’s great smile and funny comments will be remembered by many. His passion for farming was seen this past spring driving tractor in his 92nd year and his love for agriculture was seen right until the end remaining on the home farm until the time of his passing.

Today Eric, John and their families run the day to day operations of the farm continuing their father’s passion for cows and farming with great success.

Aage is survived by Kristine, his loving wife of 59 years. Son Eric and his children Laura, Lars and Noah. Son John and wife Debbie and their children Luke and Abbey plus numerous nieces and nephews. Join us in a celebration of Aage’s life during the funeral services at the First Baptist Church, 5005 53 Ave, Olds, AB on Monday July 24, at 1:00 PM.
