Master Breeder & Canadian Exporters Award Recipient passes away

Thomas “Tom” Cline Rowntree, passed away while surrounded by family and friends on Monday February 18, 2013, at the age of 65. Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Arlene Rowntree (Hayden); his son Dean Rowntree; his daughter Donna Rennie (Rowntree) and her husband Scott Rennie and his granddaughter Heidi Lyn Leslie. Brother of Don Rowntree and his wife Robin Rowntree (Canon). Son of Myrtle Rowntree and predeceased by his father Russel Rowntree.

Tom was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all. Tom was an ambitious man who bred and showed numerous champion cattle. At the age of 21 he was the recipient of the prestigious “Master Breeders” award, and in 1988 Tom along with his brother Don received the “Canadian Exporters Award”. An award recognizing outstanding exports from Canada, presented by the Prime Minister. Tom had also earned a reputation for selling quality livestock to over 30 countries worldwide. Tom will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 24, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave, Georgetown 905-877-3631. Funeral service will be held on Monday February 25, 2013 at the Kennedy Road Tabernacle (KRT) Church (141 Kennedy Rd., Brampton) at 11:00 am.
