For the first time in nearly five years, the Class III milk price has exceeded the $18.00 mark. On Wednesday, the USDA announced that the September Federal Order Class III price reached $18.31 per hundredweight. That’s 71-cents more than August’s price and $2.22 higher than September 2018. It’s the highest base price since November 2014
So far, the Class III price has averaged $16.11 during 2019.
The Class IV component price was 39-cents lower than last month at $16.35, but $1.54 more than last year.
Meanwhile, the Wisconsin all milk price for August was announced at $19.10 per cwt., up 30-cents from July’s price and $2.80 more than the same month a year earlier.
