Applications Being Taken for PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy

MADISON — The 2017 Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) Cornerstone Dairy Academy™ is slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 14-15, 2017 at the Alliant Energy Center – Exhibition Hall, in Madison, Wis. This application-based leadership program is designed for dairy farmers and industry professionals who are looking to broaden their collaboration, management and leadership skills in pursuit of continuous improvement.

Each of the pillars will take place simultaneously on day one of the program. The three pillars include:

  • Influential Leaders: Interact and Influence – Possessing soft skills or the ability to interact with others professionally and effectively is a key to being successful in today’s workplace. Expert trainers, Trevina Broussard, Humetrics and Peggy Morrow & Associates, Susan Richardson, Founder, Etiquette Essentials, LLC, and Hank Wagner, Wagner Leadership Training, will immerse attendees in real-life examples that will improve communication, interpersonal people skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Visionary Leaders: Ethics, Leadership and Outlook – Good leadership is based on ethics. In this pillar, Dr. Steve Dunn, Professor and Chair, Department of Finance & Business Law, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, will use case studies to lead discussions on social responsibility, while Dr. David Kohl, President of AgriVisions, LLC, will develop the skills of a high-impact player capable of leading others through market turbulence and change, like the challenges of a global economy.
  • Servant Leadership: Serve, Grow and Lead – Serving others is the foundation to good leadership and good leaders are developed. This session is designed to help participants cultivate their ability to lead others to success. Tom Thibodeau, Distinguished Professor of Servant Leadership at Viterbo University, will demonstrate the business benefits of putting others first. Thibodeau’s presentation and captivating story telling will engage and get attendees thinking of ways to put theory to practice.

On day two of the Cornerstone Dairy Academy, all program participants will use the knowledge gained from day one during their time at the 2017 PDPW Business Conference to network with other dairy farmers and industry professionals.

Consideration for the PDPW Cornerstone Dairy Academy is secured by application only. Applications are due January 31, 2017 and available online at www.pdpw.org/cornerstone.php. Those chosen for the training will be notified by February 15.
