Calves for a Cause Online Sale 2021

March 26 & 27, 2021 @

“Have you ever looked forward to something with great anticipation and then when it happened, the event/moment vastly exceeded your expectations?” Russell Gammon’s words couldn’t be any truer for those involved in the Calves for a Cause Online Sale 2021. “That’s the way I would describe the Calves for a Cause Sale completely!” 62 lots were auctioned off on March 28 for an average of $2535, but more incredibly, nearly $75,000 was raised for Children’s Hospital of London!

“Where to start? Sarah and I are in awe at the unbelievable support Calves for a Cause received. We are so grateful to the consignors, buyers and everyone who helped us throughout the sale,” commented Darryl Markus. “My original discussion with Russell Gammon back in October was to offer 4-5 of my own calves and 2-3 others and raised a few dollars for Children’s. Thanks to our partners Russell Gammons, Julie Ashton, Nick Sarbacker and Kim Rae, the sale turned into so much more and we will be forever grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“What an enormous privilege to play any part in this phenomenal event alongside talented, caring, visionary people who “100% got the prime purpose of holding this sale,” remarked Russell. “Congrats to the Markus family for vision and never letting go of that vision at a time of extreme activity on many other fronts. This was a gold star day for the dairy industry as compassion, caring and thinking of others was so highly evident. In the midst of life in 2020 and 2021 everyone needs shining moments like these!”

Breeders truly offered their best, with 21 consignors donating 100% of the proceeds of their lots to Children’s Hospital. Beslea Kingsdale VIP Datsun-ET topped the sale at $9000. This fancy senior calf is from Reserve All-Canadian and All-Ontario Milking Yearling Crossbrook Magic Genie Darcy-ET (VG-86). She was consigned by Beslea Farms Ltd and Kingsdale Jersey Farm, ON, and purchased by Street Spoonamore, TN.

Hird’s M Victorious, a Magician junior yearling out of a VG Comerica, sold for $8200 to Emily Unger, ON. She was consigned by Nathan Wade, who shared his family’s connection with Children’s Hospital in the catalog. “We are blessed to have this hospital close by to help our daughter Lexi through the health challenges in her life. When we saw Darryl and Sarah posts about hosting a sale to support Children’s Hospital we were 100% on-board.”

Knonaudale Lite The Way caught many people’s attention with Winright Holsteins and Jaquemet Holsteins, ON, being the successful bidders at $5800. Knonaudale Farms consigned the fancy Jordy intermediate calf, who is backed by 9 VG/EX dams and is a full sister to Unanimous All-American Lite My Fire, and Res. All-Canadian Lululemon.

Lot 1, CDX-Roszell M&M, sold for $5100, with 100% of the sale donated by Canadian Dairy Expo – Jordan Underhill. The Polled, A2A2 *RDC Mirand-PP is out of Vogue Loyola Red Mistress (VG-87) and sold to Bally Bright Farms, ON.

Selling for $5000 was Fraeland Atomic Spice Red, a fancy junior yearling from a VG-86 Loyola out of Snowbiz Brewmaster Swan (VG-88), former #1 GLPI cow. She was consigned by Fraeland Farms and purchased by London Dairy, ON.
