Rietveld Dairies is located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. Jason and Kristine Rietveld purchased the dairy in 2013 from Jason’s parents, Ben and Mary who started the farm in 1980. Their herd is consists of 120 Holstein milking cows and 130 bred and open heifers.
Type and classification plays an important role in their farms breeding program as they work towards becoming a Master Breeder herd. They focus on cows with high production as well as longevity. Current sires they are using on the farm are Impression, Sidekick, Thunderstorm, Fuel, Douglas and Dumbledore.
They are currently working with some very notable cow families. Lakefield Golden Stacey who goes back to the Lakefield Chief Sally family, Rietben Baxter Cecelia from the Gypsy Grand family and Grassville Aftershock Fiona from Dubosquet Rudolph Faloo are just some examples of the great line of cattle featured at Rietveld Dairies.
Rietveld Dairies has recently updated their Facebook page with their classification results. They were also the recipients of the 2018 Northern Alberta Holstein Club Breeder of the year award.
