The added feature of a Red & White Holstein Heifer show was an exciting and new addition to the 2009 Ontario
Spring Discovery Show that took place on March 25-26, 2009 at the Western Fair Agriplex, London, ON.
Holstein Show
Judge Donald Dubois of Princeville, Quebec, did thorough work throughout the day evaluating the 137
Holsteins. A very strong Mature Cow class exhibited the champions of the day. As Bridgeview Gibson
Dottie, exhibited Brian Coleman, Brantford, ON, was pronounced the Grand Champion Holstein of the show.
Kingsway Terrason Allie, exhibited by Trent Valley, Kingsway, Jason Mell, Sharp Acres, Peterborough, ON,
was the second place Mature Cow and the Reserve Grand Champion Holstein. For Honourable Mention,
Judge Dubois selected the first place Junior 3-Year Old, Salem Goldwyn Theresa, exhibited by Futurecrest
Holsteins, Aylmer, ON. Earlier in the day the Junior Champion was awarded to the first place Junior Yearling,
Crovalley CS Allasan owned by Crovalley Holsteins, Hastings, ON. Phoenix Baxter Genesis, the first place
Summer Yearling was named Reserve Junior Champion for Barclay Phoenix, High Point Farms, Continental
Holsteins, Greenbank, ON.
In the Red and White Heifer show, Judge Dubois selected the first place Summer Yearling as the Junior
Champion, Daveray Jet Scarlet-Red , exhibited by Buttdale Holsteins, Ingersoll, ON. Married-Well T Robin-
Red, the first place Intermediate Yearling, owned by the Robin Syndicate, Jerseyville, ON, was the Reserve
Red & White Junior Champion of the day.
The Premier Breeder was awarded to John Buckley of Salem Holsteins, Lindsay, ON, and Premier Exhibitor
Banner was presented to Brian Coleman of Bridgeview Farms, Brantford, ON. The Premier Sire of the 2009
Ontario Spring Discovery Show was won by Braedale Goldwyn.
Jersey Show
Simultaneously, Judge Rod York, from Tisdale, SK sorted through the 77 Jersey entries. Grand Champion
Jersey was awarded to Glen Caro Nan 2, the first place Mature Cow, owned by Cybil Fisher, Trent Valley and
Jason Mell, Peterborough, ON. Rozeview Amadeo Betty was named the first place 5 Year Old and Reserve
Grand Champion, owned by Jeff Stephens, Dave Dyment, & Cybil Fisher, Troy, ON. Judge York awarded
Honourable Mention Jersey to Huronia RBR Bree 37R, owned by Robert Jarrell, Corbyville, ON. Junior
Champion honours went to Willdina C Jana exhibited Willdina Farms, Bowmanville, ON, the first place Senior
Yearling. Aland Shyster Anne was the Reserve Junior Champion, owned by Manuel Zorrilla Fernandez,
Mexico and Honourable Mention Junior Jersey Champion was presented to Perennial Justice Natasha
owned by Bryan Weldrick, Woodstock, ON.
Both the Premier Breeder and Exhibitor Banners were presented to Robert & April Jarrell & Family, Corbyville,Purina Cup Showmanship Competition
John Werry from Oshawa, ON did a fantastic job testing the skills of 40 youth exhibitors in the Agribrands
Purina Cup Showmanship Competition.
Claiming first place Senior Showman and Grand Champion Showman overall was Stephanie Warner from
Hastings, ON. Second place Senior and Reserve Grand Champion was awarded to Christina Crowley, also
from Hastings, ON.
The top Intermediate Showmen were Rachel Jebson from Sunderland and Marty Hazeleger from Embro,
ON. Tanner Jones from Woodstock and Vanessa Crowley of Hastings, ON claimed the top Junior
Showmanship Honours.
Kubota Canada Herdsman Competition
Congratulations to Robert & April Jarrell & family of Corbyville, ON in receiving the well deserved Kubota
Canada Herdsman Competition top honours. Hillmark Holsteins of Ilderton, ON was presented with the
Reserve banner for the Kubota Canada Herdsman Competition and Willow Creek Jerseys from New
Hamburg, ON, received Honourable Mention.
