Vets to brief farmers as virus appears on more Ulster farms

Schmallenberg Virus – Mid Ulster briefing‏

“Our aim is to give farmers the information needed to make the right decisions for their own businesses when it comes to the prevention and control of this costly disease,” John explained.

“We are all aware of the heavy losses producers have endured both across the water and in the Republic.  Now it is clear this midge born virus that can cause devastating defects in calves and lambs is becoming more common here.
“At the information evening milk, beef and lamb producers will be updated on the level of risk and the role of the world’s first Schmallenberg vaccine, which has just become available.”
