RockyMountain Holsteins would like to thank all of our consignors and buyers and all those that participated in order to make the RockyMountain High Sale 2015 a very successful event. A delicious barbeque steak dinner was held on the evening of July 1st and after a western style stampede breakfast on the morning of July 2nd, sales of all lots exceeded the 1 million dollar mark to the total of $1,007,150. Excluding embryos, 111 lots averaged $9000/lot.
Top seller was Westcoast Ladd Aspen VG-88 at $197,000. Aspen is a stylish red and white polled 2-year old from an Excellent Redliner from Apple herself. She was bought by Westcoast Holsteins. Second high at $76,000 was a choice of a Pepper or 2 Powerball heifers from Snowbiz N Uno Lena. These heifers have a GTPI as high as 2635 and GLPI as high as 3354. Lena is a Numerno Uno from Freuehaven FGS Lucy who goes back to Comestar Laurie Shiek. This lot was purchased by Golden Oak Farms of Illinois. The pick from Bosdale Gold Luster, the Grand Champion of the 2015 Ontario Spring Show, sold for $30,000. The pick will be from 2 pregnancies by Doorman or 2 by Beemer all of which are due in December. The buyers were Wendon, Lucky Hill and Zimmer from Alberta and Benbie Holsteins from Saskatchewan. This year there was a strong impact from heightened activity of online participation in purchasing and viewing. We had buyers from, Alberta (38), BC (26), SK (9), MB (6), ON (20 which includes 2 lots with buyer from Italy), QC (3), PEI(5), USA (8-MN,WI, CA, FL, CO)
RockyMountain Holsteins donated embryos by Silver from their VG 3 year old Hendel O-Style Meg which raised $11,150 for the Shriners Hospital for Children. Since the first RockyMountain High Sale in 2005, RockyMountain Holsteins has raised in excess of $90,000 for charity.
