Obituary for Wisconsin Dairywoman Gloria Sattler

Everyone at Cowsmopolitan extends our most sincere condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Wisconsin dairywoman Gloria Sattler, of New Holstein, who passed away January 19th.

Gloria C. Sattler, 91, New Holstein, formerly of Calumetville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

The former Gloria Manderscheid was born on Sept. 20, 1925, to the late Raymond A. and Alma (Doern) Manderscheid.

Gloria attended school in Garnet and graduated from Chilton High School in 1943.

On May 4, 1946, she married Howard Sattler at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (UCC) in Malone.

Gloria along with her husband and family farmed in the Town of Calumet near Calumetville until retiring.

Gloria was a life-long member of St. Paul’s UCC, a charter member of the Calumet Homemakers, a long time 4-H club leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent at St. Paul’s UCC. Her primary role and enjoyment was caring for and supporting her family.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing Trivial Pursuit. Gloria and Howard traveled throughout the country. Together they enjoyed going to their children’s and grandchildren’s events.

Gloria is survived by her husband Howard; 10 children, Oran (Betty) Sattler of Malone, Dwight (Mary) Sattler of Malone, Catherine (Tim) Barr of Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Lorene (Joe) Baltz of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, Linda (Stanley) Huikko of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Lyle (Mary) Sattler of Chilton, Paul (Kathy) Sattler of Mishicot, Kristine (Dennis) Fincher of Bryant, Wisconsin, David (JoDee) of Hartland, Wisconsin, and Charles (Barbara) Sattler of Marysville, Ohio. She is further survived by 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister Ardis Swensen of Dunwoody, Georgia; and her brother-in-law Donald (Diane) Sattler of Chilton.  Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother Raymond H. Manderscheid; a daughter-in-law Virginia Sattler; and a son-in-law Arnold Freidig.

Funeral services for Gloria will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, N10362 St. Paul Rd., Malone. The Rev. Daniel Schultz will officiate. Gloria will be laid to rest in St. Paul’s Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends may greet the family at the church Saturday morning from 9 until 11 a.m.

A Memorial Fund will be established in Gloria’s name.
