Obituary for Minnesota Dairyman Donald HillLA CRESCENT — Donald E. Hill, 89, of rural La Crescent passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, July 2, 2017.

Donald was born March 22, 1928, in Winona, to Roy and Lillian (Papenfuss) Hill. He married Lucille Beach June 2, 1951. Donald worked in Winona until he and Lucille moved to the farm in 1959. Donald loved being a farmer and selling seed corn for over 31 years. Donald loved playing cards. He was a very positive person who always looked at life as being the glass half full rather than half empty and told his children and grandchildren, “Better days are coming!”

Donald will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years and love of his life, Lucille; and his three children, Bruce (Sherry) Hill, Linda (Richard) Johnson and Wanda (Joe) Jorgenson: one sister, Sylvia Benson; as well as 19 grandchildren, Missy (Luke) Marble, Brent (Cheri) HIll, Jeff Hill, Linsey (Dan) Schossow, Jason (Molly) Johnson, Ryan (Tracy) Johnson, Cory Johnson, Leann (Chris) Stuart, Ladawn Johnson, Leah (Jason) James, Londa (Matt) Lauber, Labecca (Jason) Schott, Paul Johnson and friend, Brittany, Luke Johnson, Jeremy (Casey) Jorgensen, Jared “Chub” (Kellie)) Jorgenson, Landon “Bucky” Jorgenson and friend, Char, Jolyn (Brad) Vanderzee, Amber Jorgenson and friend, Dillion. He is further survived by 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Raquel Hill; and great-granddaughter, Faith Jorgenson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine. Pastor Dennis Harbach will officiate. Burial will follow in Hiler Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 111 S. Oak St., La Crescent, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
