Obituary for Arnold Empey

Everyone at Cowsmo sends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Arnold Empey.

It is with sadness, we announce the passing of Arnold Empey.  Arnold was born March 11, 1926 in Madoc, Ontario and passed away on August 22, 2018 in Red Deer, Alberta.  He was predeceased by his parents and sister.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife Marie of 32 years, 9 step-children, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, several step-grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Arnold enjoyed hunting with his friends.  He hunted until he was 80 years old. Arnold played shuffleboard for many years, winning the 2017 Gold Medal for Men’s Singles first event at the Annual Moose Jaw Shuffleboard Tournament.  He was the oldest player to ever win this medal at 91.  He also enjoyed curling, golfing and square dancing.

Arnold volunteered for 20 years with Meals on Wheels and donated blood 50 times.

A celebration of life will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 67 Street, Red Deer on September 1, 2018 at 1:00pm.

A special thank you to the staff at the Red Deer Hospice for their care and compassion during Arnold’s stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Ave., Red Deer.
