The American Milking Shorthorn Society’s purpose is to encourage and promote the breeding of Milking Shorthorn cattle; to provide for the registration and transfer of the pedigrees and the recording of milk records of Milking Shorthorn cattle; to encourage studies of the ability of Milking Shorthorn cattle to produce efficiently both milk and meat; to encourage and promote the exhibition and public recognition of Milking Shorthorn cattle having desirable qualifications for such productions; to print and distribute the Journal, advertise and promote the breeding of Milking Shorthorn cattle.

Dan Maur farms was founded by Dan and Maureen Baginski in 1967 and relocated to their current location on 165 acres in Othello in 1978. Currently milking 200 head of Brown Swiss, Holsteins and Jerseys. They purchased their first Brown Swiss in the mid-1970’s with a dam/daughter in which the daughter was a 4H project. Then a small herd was purchased locally and the rest is history! The family is spread across the USA and includes Liz & Joe and Josh Holtcamp of Sedro-Woolley, WA; Jennifer of NYC; Dan of Chicago; Chris & Janice and Nate who can be found on the farm in Othello; Megan & Brian, Scott, Anneka Christiansen, who all dairy in Turner, OR. Springhill is home to 600 head of registered Guernsey’s and Holsteins. Over the years, we have bred and or owned All-American cattle in four breeds with Guernsey’s being our latest emphasis. In 2013, we accumulated 18 All-American/ Jr. All-American nominations. We are currently milking 260 cows which are 1/3 Guernsey and 2/3 Holstein and in 2015 we will be playing host for the National Guernsey Convention sale where visitors will have the opportunity to witness the best the Guernsey breed has to offer and to see our herd which consists of more than 50 excellent cows and loads of promising young cattle. Springhill was established in 1819 and has been in the family for nearly 200 years.
