The GenoSource & Sexing Technologies Production Sale held on Thursday, May 21st in Quincy, IL was a rousing success with 420 lots sold for an average of $2,898.00 straight through.  Ninety Registered Holsteins averaged $4,110.00 while the 316 grade cows averaged $2,552.00 for a total of $1,202,575.00.

The GenoSource & Sexing Technologies Production Sale held on Thursday, May 21st in Quincy, IL was a rousing success with 420 lots sold for an average of $2,898.00 straight through.  Ninety Registered Holsteins averaged $4,110.00 while the 316 grade cows averaged $2,552.00 for a total of $1,202,575.00. 

Topping the sale at $19,000.00 was lot 1, a tremendous fresh McCutchen daughter with a GTPI +2539 from the famous “Seagull-Bay Miss America”. Randy & Rod Weber of Canada were the final bidders.  Second high was, lot 56 selling for $13,500.00 to Aurora Ridge Dairy in Aurora, NY.  Announced as the sleeper of the sale, this fresh Supersire daughter carried a GTPI +2423 +%%P & her dam is VG-86 Snowman from EX-95 All-AM & All-Can, “Gold Missy”!  Third high was lot 3 selling for $10,800.00 sired by Numero Uno with a GTPI +2430.  She sold fresh from a VG-87 Robust and the family of Delta, Denver, Draco, Dozer & Delco to Siemers Holsteins in WI.  Cattle sold to 13 states and Canada.

The quality of the cattle was amazing with many of the milking, sire ID grade cows selling for $2,800.00 to $3,400.00.  Every lot was offered individually with the sale lasting less than six hours for an average of over 70 lots per hour!  Free lunch was provided to all and the crew at GenoSource including Tim Rauen, Mark Butz and Joe Ferretti are to be commended for hosting a sale where there was quality at every level.  

The sale was managed by Courtney Sales LLC of IA and The Cattle Exchange of Delhi, NY with both Dave Rama and Scott Courtney handling the gavel.  Larry Kleiner and Lloyd Simon announced updates from the box with Cowbuyer.com handling online bidding.  Sale staff members did a fantastic job handling bids and bringing orders to the sale including; Max Beer, Alan Dykshorn, Gerrit Bruins, Ron Roskopf, Dave Crack, Bill Rauen, Kyle Demmer & Tim Rauen.  Sale clerks were busy all day and included Merry Rama, Amber Newman and Amy Courtney.

The buyers are already calling wanting to know when the next sale will be held in Quincy!
