October 22nd, 2016 @ Cobleskill, NY

86 Lots

The Eastern Breeders Brown Swiss Sale 2016 was held October 22nd in Cobleskill, NY with 86 head averaging $2,386, with a top seller of $7,750 on Top Acres HP B Winsome-ET.
A brisk fall day in Cobleskill, New York provided the setting for the 2016 Edition of this longest running sales series in the Brown Swiss Breed. A large crowd attended a presale get together and meal the evening before the sale served by Bruce Dearborn representing the New England Brown Swiss Association. Landini/McCormick represented by Joe Shipsky were sponsors for the meal and prizes for the high selling animals. Sexing Technologies provided beverages and support for the pre-sale activities.

“The Brown Swiss Marketplace for the Northeast” once again offered a variety of cattle, semen and embryos to suit all tastes and levels of investment. The cattle were well received and sold to 14 different states with a final average of $2386. Including several project calves.

The sale topper at $7,750 was Top Acres HP B Winsome ET, a big Bonanza bred heifer from “The World of Whizzbang” and consigned by Top Acres and Hillpoint Partners, OH and WI. Her dam, Wizard, was recently the Total Performance Winner and Hon. Mention Grand Champion at the International Show as well as a member of the winning produce of dam for the fourth consecutive year. Jason Meier, Ridott, IL purchased this well-bred individual as well as some other key foundation animals including a potential 13th generation “Excellent”.

Next in line on the high sellers list at $7400 was Cutting Edge L Pleasure ET, a fancy
“VG” Legacy three year old from the All American Crows Nest Colby Prada “2E92”. Interestingly, the buyers of Pleasure were the breeders of her dam which they sold in the 2011 Maryland National Sale. Jimmy and Ginny Franks & Ryan and Whitney Keith of Waynesboro, GA will further develop this promising member of the Priscilla family. Ken Main and Peter Vail were the consignors.

The Eastern Breeders Sale was again managed by Modern Associates, St. Paris, OH.
Dave Bush handled the auctioneer duties and Wayne E. Sliker was the box-man. Gordon DeMay and Richard Stephens worked the ring assisted by Brian Garrison and Dale Bendig on the phones. Modern Associates clerked the event with New York and New England Juniors leading.
