It seemed as if Convention week was but a blur, with many laughs shared, adventures, and memories made! We started the week of strong on Tuesday with great participation in our Youth Activities, it is always great to see so many young people determined in what they are doing. Weather it was their dedication to study in quiz bowl and Jeopardy, or looking for the perfect shot to take for the photo contest, their hard work was awarded Tuesday night at the Annual Youth Banquet. On Wednesday we were able to see the beautiful sights of Pennsylvania. The morning started at Jenny’s Ayrshires, we visited the flight 93 memorial, on to Mowrey Homestead that afternoon, and ended the day at Hameau Farm of Gay Rogers. The tours were so great for everyone to mingle in and have a great time with people that share the same love as we do ourselves. The annual meeting was held on Thursday morning after covering, much business and presenting the new board of directors, awards were presented for All Americans, French Trophies, and other production awards. Thursday evening was the annual banquet, in which we had guest speakers and I gave up my 2014-15 National Ayrshire Queen title. I passed my reign on to LeAnn Van Der Lann of Oklahoma. At the Grand National Sale on Friday many buyers and consignors were gracious. With great animals and interest, the sale averaged $3,060. Although the week has flown by, Pennsylvania was such as great place to have our National Convention, the endless hours that were put in by their association was shown in how smoothly the week went. On my behalf, I am very grateful to have served an association that represents an amazing industry and a beautiful cow. Spending a week with such hardworking, dedicated people that care so much about the Ayrshire Cow is merely a blessing. Convention 2015 is now in the books!
