On Wednesday 14th April, one of the most interesting sales of Holstein cattle, ever staged on European soil, will be hosted by Willsbro Holsteins, at the Royal Cornwall Showground, England.

The catalogue for the Wilsbro Sale 2010 is now on-line and can be viewed by clicking Willsbro Sale Catalogue 2010

Over the last 5 years, brothers Anthony and Jimmy Wills and their Willsbro prefix have enjoyed a meteoric  rise to the top of Holstein breeding circles. Having claimed major UK show titles at National and regional levels, and having invested in many of the world’s leading cow families over the last few years,  the forthcoming sale features 200 head of milking cattle, young stock, service-age bulls and a selection of embryos, ensuring there will be something for everyone and every budget.

As part of the 2-Day sale extravaganza, the Wills family will host an Open Day prior to the sale. “We appreciate it is a long way to ask people to travel, but Cornwall is such a beautiful county and the hospitality is second to none. We want breeders  to come and really have an enjoyable time” says Anthony Wills “Combining the sale with the Open day just seemed a logical and seemingly popular choice”.  Evidently this event seems to be attracting a global audience, with enthusiasts coming from North America, and mainland Europe as well as from all over parts of the British Isles.

On Tuesday 13th April starting at 2pm, visitors will be able to view Pawton ‘s 1000 cow dairy unit which currently  averages over 11,500kgs milk. They will have the option to see the 60 point rotary parlour in action, and also the housing facilities and systems in place at Willsbro.  From 4pm onwards and just a short distance away on land adjacent to the Dairy, the sale cattle will be available for viewing at the Royal Cornwall Showground, whilst a Cheese and Wine reception will be laid on. Then at night following a 3-course sit down meal at the Hotel Bristol, Newquay, International guest and Semex sire analyst Brian Carscadden, will be speaking about his life in the Holstein Industry.

It is hard to talk about the sale without mentioning some of the key lots which sell, including the first live offerings to be sold from the Former #1 CTPI & GTPI cow- Wabash-Way Emilyann VG-88 2yr, who sold for $630,000 at the Global Glamour sale in the States.  Her daughters by Planet sell, including her highest GTPI daughter in the world- Willsbro Emilyann who has a GTPI +2429, ranking her in the top 20 animals in the world!!

Willsbro Shottle Lila Z is another heifer with world-class credentials. She sells ready to flush being the highest genomic descendant of the Million Dollar cow Lylehaven Lila Z with a GTPI +2430, again putting her amongst the best genomic animals anywhere in the world- She is the #2 GTPI animal in Europe!

Seldom has a sale been so keenly anticipated, 200 individuals possessing unbroken pedigrees of international standard and truly outstanding type, come April 14th it is unquestionable that the eyes of the global Holstein industry will very much be on Cornwall.
