  Mac daughter tops Springtime Sale in Italy
  At the Springtime Sale (average: €5,660) that took place near Venice in Italy, Mac daughter Farnear Mac Fayola from the family of Ralma Durham Frisky fetched the top price of €11,300 and went to APA Di Padova. A 1st choice from the combination of Million or Alexander x Go-Farm Goldwyn Tina sold at €10,900.
   
  With an average price of €4,787, the 14th edition of the Sunrise Sale in Karow, North Germany, again was a real success. Top seller was Lilian, sired by Baxter and out of Comestar Goldwyn Lilac (Goldwyn x Lylehaven Lila Z). Owned by ADAP Rinderzucht of Ahrenshagen, she sold to a German partnership at €22,600.

Greenlea Sale a Smash Success in Maryland!
The sale is wrapped up in Frederick, MD and the final results show an average of $5,830.50 on 100 lots (including embryos).

Top seller at $42,200 was Lot #1 - 1st Choice Goldwyn out of Thrulane James Rose (EX-97-CAN), consigned by Pierre Boulet and purchased by Richard Green. Rose, of course, was the undefeated Aged Cow in 2008 and Supreme Champion at World Dairy Expo and Royal Winter Fair and was subsequently named the unanimous All-American Aged Cow and the unanimous All-Canadian Mature Cow.

Bringing $24,900 and claiming the 2nd high seller position was Lot 18 - Elmbridge Redliner Lifesaver, the show winning 3/08 Fradon Redliner daughter out of Elmbridge FM Loveable-Red (VG-88-3YR-CAN) who was Grand Champion of the Royal Winter Fair R&W Show and Intermediate Champion at the Grand International R&W Show in 2008. Consigned by Richard Green, she was purchased by Robert & Laura Emerson of Delaware.

Third high at $24,000 was Lot 3 - Greenlea Deb Marla-Red-ET - a 12/08 red Debonair out of KY-Blue Ruben Marla-Red-ET (EX-92), the HM All-American 4-Year-Old in 2008 and the All-American R&W Sr 3-Year-Old in 2007. This only Debonair daughter of Marla was consigned by MD-Hillbrook and Chad & Sandy Umbel of Thurmont, MD and was claimed by Frank & Diane Borba of Modesto, CA.

Early Results from the Kansas State Sale!
With the sale just under way in Hutchinson, KS, the early top seller is Lot #2 - Kingsmill Ashlyns Audrey-ET.  An April Stormatic x Ashlyn (2E-EX96-GMD-DOM).  Consigned by Kingsmill Farm II, NC and purchased by Ehrhardt Farm, MD for $23,000.  Second high seller is Lot #1, Miss Rosi's Rosette, Nominated All-American Spring Heifer Calf 2008 and 5th at Madison. Rosette was the consignment of Keen & Iager, KS & MD, and sold to Starmark Farms, OH for $13,750.

  Opportunity East 2009 Goldwyn Edition Sale Averages $8389
 

The top selling consignment was from Mark Butz and Jeff Butler, IA and IL. The offering was the pick of three Goldwyn’s from Regancrest Brazilia (VG-89, 2y) -  A Shottle daughter out of Regancrest PR Barbie-ET (EX-92). The pick sold for $45,000 to Ploe Dairy - Dice Vander Pole.

Top selling live lot struck off at $21,000 was Comestar Micha Goldwyn (VG-87). Her dam is a VG-87 Morty, then a 4E EX-92 Outside followed by GP-83, VG-88, GP, VG, GP. Consigned by East River Holsteins, she shows a breeding date of 6/17/08 to Recancrest HHF Marcus. T&L Cattle purchased the lot. Rounding out the top 3 selling lots was Lot 5, an April Shottle out of Geno Goldwyn Lili (VG-89, 2y) selling for $20,500 to Mario Comtois.

  Maryland State Convention Sale averages $3736 on 74 lots
  Topping the sale was Lot 3 at $12,400, Glen-Toctin Mac Lilac-ET backed by 7 generations of VG or EX.  She went to Clear Echo of New York.  The sale was held in Bel Air, MD in conjunction with the Maryland State Holstein Convention.
   
  The 2009 Vente Classique was held over the weekend at Belli-Star Notre-Dame-Bon-Conseil, QC. 
The sale managed by Tyler Doiron saw an average of $5,400. The top seller of the sale was a first choice Goldwyn out of Stadacona Outside Able purchased by Comtois International for $25,500.
The second high seller was a first choice Mac out of Selbyvale Spirit Loggan for $14,500 bought by Hi-Calibre Holsteins of Burntcoat, Nova Scotia.  Tying for the second slot was Crasdale Goldwyn Lottomania for $14,500 purchased by Ty-D Holsteins of Cap-Sante, QC.

WI Guernsey Video Calf Sale a Success!

The 2009 edition was a resounding success as 18 calves averaged $1,885, the second highest average ever for this sale series. Topping the sale at $4,550 was Lot 5, the choice from four 9/08 Challenge heifers from Coulee Crest Skipper Jewel, EX-90. Jewel has a top record over 23,000M and 1,100F. The choice was consigned by Kurt Peterson of Cashton, WI, and purchased by Josey and Lindsay Morris of Watertown, WI.

Spring Sale Season has begun! A few highlights from Saturday, March 7th Sales around the US.
 
Gil-Tex Stampede II, Turlock, CA

111 lots averaged $5,644 at the end of the day with buyers from California, Canada, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Iowa, Mexico, Wisconsin, Kansas and Minnesota. High seller: $32,500 Savage-Leigh PS Lona-ET, the April ’08 Shottle from Allen Leona X Licorice.The first public offering from Leona, she sold with 2 embryos contracts totaling over $13,000. Consigned by Chip Savage, Knoxville, MD and purchased by Joseph Borba, Hilmar, CA

 

The Branson Limited Sale, Branson, MO

38 lots averaged an impressive $14,171. Leading the way on the list of high sellers at $58,000 was Lot 30, a choice of 3 ultrasound females sired by Goldwyn due in September from Gloryland Lana Rae (2E-94). The choice is a maternal sister to Gloryland Liberty Rae (EX-92), perennial show favorite from the great Roxys who will be rescored in March. Consigned by David Tait’s Gloryland Holsteins of Grottoes, VA, the right to choose from these exciting youngsters will be that of the Gold Standard Syndicate, Steve Collins, Harrisonburg, VA.

 
The Pintail Point Dispersal, Queenstown, MD

The large crowd was not disappointed by the quality herd that were a tribute to owner Louis Schaefer and herd managers Doug & Joan Seidel. An unofficial average of $3,457.52 was realized. Cattle were sold to seven states.

The top selling animal was struck off to Jim High & Rusty Herr of Oxford, PA. They selected Dirigo-Conant Regan-ET (EX-93 EX-MS) for $20,500. Regan is a 10/03 Silky Cousteau that freshened in October and is out of one of New England’s high profile brood cows, Brigeen-C Integrit Robin-ET (2E-95 DOM). Thus, Regan traces back to Queen of the Breed, Roxy.

 
The Carolina Classic Sale, Winston-Salem, NC
The Carolina Classic ended up with an unofficial sale average of $2150 without the embryo packages, $2015 with the embryos. Gary Olson of Wisconsin purchased the sale topper lot 23 Kingsmill Asteroid Tiona-ET for $4600, consigned by Kingsmill of North Carolina.
