Le Centre d’insémination artificielle du Québec (CIAQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of
Mr. Marcel Choinière as Director of Marketing and Genetics. Mr. Choinière, who has more than 25 years
of experience in the dairy cattle industry, will start on February 15, 2010.
In this capacity, Mr. Choinière will ensure the continuing development of the enterprise with the help of a
team of experienced people and he will be supported by his close associates, Ms. Hélène Drapeau,
Assistant Director of Communications and Distribution, Mr. Mario Roy, Assistant Director of Marketing
and Services and Mr. Mario Séguin, Assistant Director of Genetics and Head of Genetic Expertise. He
will also work closely with industry people in Québec and in Canada to follow the industry’s evolution.
Mr. Choinière started his career in 1984 at the Meilleure Regional Schoolboard as a teacher, responsible
for the animal production program at the professional level. In 1986, he joined Agribrands Purina Canada
where he held various positions throughout the years from dairy specialist, to Manager of the Quebec
and U.S. regions, to Sales Manager of the Québec Central and Eastern regions and Manager of the
Quebec Distribution Division.
Mr. Choinière has been involved in Jersey and Holstein breeding programs since 1994. He is also
involved in breed associations being President of Jersey Québec, President of the Conseil québécois
des races laitières (Québec Council of Dairy Breeds) and National Director of Jersey Canada.
Mr. Choinière was born in Saint-Césaire, in the Montérégie region, and raised on the Val Richelieu family
farm where they had a Jersey herd. In 1984, he completed his bachelor’s degree in agrology at the
MacDonald campus of McGill University.
Mr. Choinière’s extensive experience and his in-depth knowledge of the challenges of the dairy cattle
industry will surely benefit dairy producers.
