Introduced in 2002, the program was designed to develop informed producers who will take leadership roles in the next generation of the state’s dairy organizations. Visit the WUD website to download an application for either dairy industry members or allied industry partners. Completed packets are due by March 31, 2015.

The leadership program consists of several sessions devoted to developing a better understanding of the economic, legislative, marketing, and environmental issues facing the industry. Topics will include: environmental issues; the state and federal legislative process; dairy pricing and economics; biotechnological developments; marketing and promotion; and public relations skill development. The program’s material will be covered in five multi-day sessions, including a trip to the nations’ capitol to personally meet California legislators.

The program is targeted toward dairy producers and those in dairy-related enterprises who want to assume leadership roles within the California dairy industry. Successful applicants will be from various backgrounds, experiences, and education levels. The one commonality among those accepted to the program will be a desire to improve the California dairy industry.

Applications are due by March 31, 2015, along with an enrollment fee and the requested letters of recommendation. Both the dairy member and allied industry candidate applications are available on the WUD website by clicking here. For more information contact your WUD field representative or the main office at (209) 527-6453.

WUD is a voluntary membership organization representing more than 60% of the milk produced in California. Membership benefits include resources in labor law, environmental regulations and pricing issues. Members decide the direction of state and federal legislative efforts affecting the dairy industry.
