Vicki Crest Receives Pioneer Women’s Award
February 6, 2016

The 2016 Pioneer Farm Woman Award went to Vicky Crest, of Skycrest Holsteins, who was nominated by her family.

“Vicky is always anything and everything, from the meals, the housework as well as feeding and milking cows,” said her daughter, Tracy. “Everything from hay to harvest.”

“She’s always had a huge garden, made preservatives, baked bread, made butter, butchered and processed animals and did the farm books, all while raising four children and helping them with their homework.”

The 2016 Modern Farm Woman of the year was Nella Ziegler, who was also nominated by her family.

“Seeing her operate and what she does with the farming and making the business work at home, she’s always outside, whether its freezing or warm or melting or the mosquitos are killing you,” noted Diana, who also spoke at the ceremony.

“I always ask her, ‘Can I help? You can go inside and rest,’ and she goes, “No, no, I want to stay out.'”

The Modern Farm Woman award is presented to a woman who represents a non traditional part of farming.
