Several Dairy Protests Hit UK Supermarkets
August 3, 2015

Protests by dairy farmers have impacted supermarkets at various spots in the UK, over complaints about the price they receive for milk.

At several outlets of Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, and Asda, a group of farmers cleared all the milk stocked on the shelves, and left them in trolleys at the checkout. Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, farmers used tractors to block access to supermarket car parks, and held demonstrations.

The latest protests are part of a series of demonstrations in recent days, mirrored by blockades in France, over demands that retailers and the government help support local farmers and producers. The retailers insist that they are offering a fair price, and noted that they have been holding talks with dairy trade bodies.
