Obituary for California Guernsey Breeder David Erbe
April 24, 2017

Everyone at Cowsmopolitan wishes to share our most sincere condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of California Guernsey Breeder David Erbe of Turlock, who passed away on April 21st.

David Carl Erbe of Turlock passed away on the evening of April 21, 2017 at the age of 63 in Modesto, CA.
David was born on January 14, 1954 in Van Nuys, CA to Carl William Erbe of Ohio and Louise Mae (Profant) Erbe of Iowa. After living in Northridge for a very short time, the family moved to Ripon and started K-Lou Dairy.
After graduating from Ripon High School in 1972, David got a job as a salesman at Walter Smith Menswear in the newly opened Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto. It was there that he met his future wife, Cathi. He then became a store manager at McDonalds, however, in 1992 he left McDonalds and bought and operated the Turlock Dairy Queen with Cathi until its closure 21 years later.
In 2016 David retired and, while working part time at Macy’s selling men’s suits, he happily showed his Guernsey cows at fairs. His favorite hobby for almost his entire life was the breeding and showing of Guernsey dairy cows. He was currently sharing this passion with his grandchildren to start the next generation.
David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathi Ann Erbe of Turlock; his son, Christopher Dale Erbe of Turlock; his brother, Larry Erbe of Stockton and his sister, Karen Lee of Idaho. He is also survived by his grandson, Joshua Abbott; his granddaughters, Alexie, Mattylyn, Brooklyn and Dannie Erbe, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jennifer Louise Erbe.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. An interment will immediately follow the service at Turlock Memorial Park.
In lieu of memorial donations, the family asks that you take a few moments to hug someone dear to you and let them know how much they are loved.
