New York Jersey Singing in ‘Harmony’ After Supreme Champion Win

Harrisburg – DC Harmony Norma, the Jersey six year old and older class winner owned by Jordan and Jason Thomas of Lowville, N.Y., was crowned Supreme Champion of the 2014 All-American Dairy Show on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

The seven year old cow rose above nearly 1,900 head of cattle representing seven dairy breeds to earn the supreme title and $3,000 prize sponsored by Cargill of Shippensburg, Cumberland County.

“This is a truly exceptional cow,” said Judge Pat Conroy. “If you’re looking for a dairy, balanced, and graceful animal, she’s it.”

Supreme Champion Bred and Owned was the Jersey senior 3 year old Elliots Cosmo Action. Owners Ernest Kueffer and Terri Packard of Boonsboro, Md., won the use of a trailer for a year, sponsored by M. H. Eby Inc. of Blue Ball, Lancaster County.

Supreme Champion Heifer Hard Core Premium Fire Maid EXP, the Brown Swiss fall calf winner, is owned by Peter Vail and Frank and Diane Borba, Hillpoint Partners, of Valatie, N.Y. She earned $750, sponsored by XTO Energy of Warrendale, Allegheny County.

The six other All-American Grand Champions represented, along with owners’ names and hometowns, were:

• Ayrshire – Ski-Pal L G Kalina, Gene Iager and Craig Walton, Walkersville, Md.
• Brown Swiss – Eloc Wagor Kandid, Ken Main and Peter Vail, Copake, N.Y.
• Guernsey – Millborne Hillpoints Fiesta, P Morey Miller, Granby, Conn.
• Red & White – MS D Apple Danielle-Red-ET, Chip Savage, Union Bridge, Md.
• Holstein – Brookvilla Goldwyn Brooks, Ernest Kueffer and Michael Heath, Boonsboro, Md.

The six other Junior Champions up for the supreme heifer award, with owners and hometowns, were:

• Ayrshire – Paragon-Acres TSB Kinetic, Adam Buckenmeyer, Alexander, N.Y.
• Brown Swiss – Top Acres Peppy Wizella, Ken Main and Peter Vail, Copake, N.Y.
• Guernsey – Guernsey Prairie Grumpy Shayda, Beth Anne Clark, New Paris, Bedford Co.
• Red & White – Roll-N-View At Mindy-Red-ET, Cooper Galton, Nunda, N.Y.
• Holstein – Luncrest Black Widow-1564, Lloyd and Denise Pease, Susquehanna, Susquehanna Co.

The six other Best Bred and Owned animals competing for the supreme title were:

• Ayrshire –Garnet-Lane Avenger Poinsettia, Cassandra Plummer, Galena, Md.
• Brown Swiss – Cutting Edge B Gretchen, Ken Main and Peter Vail, Copake, N.Y.
• Guernsey – Sniders Jester Bobrees, Aaron Gable, New Enterprise, Bedford Co.
• Jersey – Elliots Cosmo Action, Ernest Kueffer and Terri Packard, Boonsboro, Md.
• Milking Shorthorn – R-Generation Othellos Lust-EXP, Jason and Jessica Kennedy, Cochranton, Crawford Co.
• Red & White –Ridgedale Runway-red-et, Cyrus Conard, Sharon Springs, N.Y.
