Learn, Connect, Understand – Agriculture Comes Alive March 3 – March 9, 2013!
March 5, 2013

Agriculture in the Classroom-Canada (AITC) organizations will be celebrating the second annual “Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week” (CALW) in classrooms across the nation from March 3rd to March 9th, 2013. Agriculture will come alive in Canadian classrooms as students participate in activities to learn about, connect to and understand this important industry. Events and activities will run throughout the week, to celebrate the fact that agriculture is all around us, everyday!

In 2012, Agriculture in the Classroom-Canada worked collectively on the initiative to declare one week in early March as the Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week. This hands-on program will encourage students to learn about and celebrate agriculture in various ways, including reading about farming, watching videos, and meeting with farmers and other agricultural representatives.

This project initiative was made possible through generous core funding from Farm Credit Canada.

To help you and your students celebrate Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week in 2013, Ontario Agri-Food Education Inc. (OAFE) is offering resources and programs for both elementary and secondary classrooms.
