Jersey Canada Cow of the Year Announced
December 4, 2012

The polls have closed, and the votes have tallied.  The Jersey Canada membership has selected the 2012 Jersey Cow of the Year.  Congratulations, BRI-LIN REN’S SOFIE EX90!

Sofie was bred by Brian & Linda Raymer, Bri-Lin Farms, Bright, Ontario.  She was born in October 1995 to Bri-Lin Imperial Snow 10*, and became the first of nine daughters to be classified Excellent. Sofie was shown at the Oxford Parish Show in 1997 where she was named Reserve Junior Champion. She was sold in milking form in 1998 and went on to place 5th at the World Dairy Expo as a Senior 2 Year Old. She was shown again as a 4 Year Old, placing first at both the New York Spring Show and the Eastern States Expo.

Sofie’s best record was as a 4 year old, with a 305 day record of 21506 1118 (5.2%) 816 (3.8%). She has become an impressive brood cow with a total of 26 offspring to date including 11 EX and 9 VG daughters. The strength of Sofie’s genetics was proven at the World Dairy Expo in 2010, where her daughter (Vindication Season) was first 4 Year Old, her granddaughter (Comerica Sebrina) was second 5 Year Old, and great granddaughter (Voltage Spice) was first Junior 2 Year Old.

Sofie is presently owned by Thomas Breakell in Goshen, Connetticut, and although she will be 17 in October is still roaming his pasture.
