Australian Dairy Conference Now Includes Farm Visits
January 14, 2016

Australia’s premier dairy event, the Australian Dairy Conference is being held in Shepparton this February with an innovative new program that includes both international and Australian speakers on the significant topics that are facing the dairy industry.

Unlike previous large formats of the Australian Dairy Conference, this year’s program includes two farm visits as part of the concurrent sessions for day two of the conference.  Australian Dairy Conference Programming Committee Chair, Tom Acocks, said the farm visits were a point of difference for this year’s conference.  “The farm visits allow conference attendees, especially those from interstate, to better understand the farming systems in the region,” Mr Acocks said.  “They will get to see and hear firsthand from two of our leading farmers about their businesses with assistance from local consultants that will explore different elements of the operation alongside the host farmer.”  “The first concurrent farm visit will have a focus on irrigation infrastructure and technology. We will be visiting the out block that has a centre pivot over maize and lucerne and hear about moisture monitoring on the farm.  “The second farm attendees can choose to visit focuses on feedbase decision making in a hybrid system using total mixed rations and a feedpad for part of the year.
“Attendees have to choose between three concurrent sessions, two of which are farm visits and the other a breakout session back at the Eastbank Centre with some of the key speakers from the program. Spots for the concurrent farm visits are limited to 100 people, so I would urge anyone interested to register and choose their preferred option immediately”.

The Australian Dairy Conference will be held February 16-18 at the Eastbank Centre in Shepparton, Victoria.  The concurrent farm visits will be taking place in the afternoon of Thursday, February 18.
