Ed Friesen was re-elected Chairman of the Board of Directors and Cindy Whytock was re-elected Vice-Chairman at a regularly scheduled Board meeting of CanWest DHI held January 10, 2012 in Toronto, Ont., following the 31st Annual Meeting.
A milk producer from Kleefeld, Man., Ed Friesen begins his sixth year on the CanWest DHI Board and has served previously on the Manitoba Holstein Branch Board.
Cindy Whytock, a milk producer from Teeswater, Ont., begins her fifth year with the CanWest DHI Board.
Joining Friesen and Whytock on the CanWest Executive Committee are Directors Bouwe Miedema of Enderby, B.C., and John Mooney of Massey, Ont.
Elections were also held for Ontario Zone Directors in Zones 1 and 4.
Lyle Martin, Brussels, Ont., was re-elected by acclamation as Director, Zone 1 which encompasses the counties of Lambton, Middlesex, Elgin, Huron, Perth, Kent and Essex Counties.
An election was held for Ontario’s Zone 4 at the Annual Meeting (Zone 4 is the east-central area of the province, around the Kingston area). Past DHI Chair John Bongers announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down after 12 years on the Board. Arlene Dorland, Brighton, Ont., was elected as the new Ontario Zone 4 Director.
CanWest DHI was formed in March 2004 as a partnership of Western Canadian DHI and Ontario DHI and provides herd management services to 4,200 dairy producers from Ontario through British Columbia.
