Dr. Richard H. Schulte, 63, of Marshfield, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, in New Liskeard, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Schulte was one of the original ET vets in the state of Wisconsin and worked extensively with producers and stray voltage problems.
Dr. Schulte was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Alton, Ill., the son of Harold and Norma (Pivoda) Schulte. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972 obtaining a degree in veterinary medicine. He practiced in Medford for two years and then moved to Marshfield, where he began Marshfield Veterinary Service. In 1994, he left Marshfield Veterinary Service and started a solo practice.
Dick enjoyed his horses, numerous exotic animals and his cats. He loved the time that he spent with his grandkids, nieces and nephews.
He and Mary T. Shookman were united in marriage Aug. 22, 1992, in Marshfield.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; and by three children from a previous marriage, Leah (Erin) Ellis and their children, Zachary, Graham and Keegan; Amy (Adam) Bloomquist and their children, Hazel, Henry and Estelle; and Ryan Schulte and his daughter, Olivia. He is also survived by two brothers, Stephen (Linda) Schulte and David Schulte. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Ruth Shookman; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Judy Shookman, Tom Shookman, Tony (Bev) Shookman, Greg (Karen) Shookman and Lucy (Gary) Ruder.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a niece, Julie Ruder.
Funeral services were held August 6 in Nasonville, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to The Children's Miracle Network, Saint Joseph's Foundation House of the Dove, The Ronald McDonald House or to the charity of the donor's choice.
